About C.J. Crompton

C.J. Crompton has spent a lifetime talking to animals — holding long conversations with dogs on walks, asking cats whether they're enjoying their head scratches, and occasionally questioning errant wildlife about where, exactly, it has come from.

Unsurprisingly, these conversations tend to be one-sided.

Sage lives in a world unburdened by that constraint. There, the animals answer — and what they have to say helps a child find their way in a busy, fast-changing world.

Aesop's fables were just as true when C.J. was growing up as they are now. These stories are written in that spirit: small, timeless lessons, passed along by the animals, for the children who'll need them.
